Associates in Business Administration and Management (A.B.A.M.)
Description: The Associates in Business Administration and Management degree program is a broad, versatile program focusing on the fundamental areas of business management and administration. It prepares students for careers in all areas of business management; and for the Bachelor of Business Administration degree programs. The A.B.A.M. curriculum involves the performance, management, and administrative functions of business operations, including, but not limited to finance, economics, human resources, sales, marketing, operations and management.
Objective: Students will
- Develop competencies in reading, oral communication, writing, and fundamental computers.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the practice of accounting, economics, management, marketing, and leadership in the business environment.
- Research, locate, and evaluate business information in order to support evidence-based decisions.
- Critically evaluate the alternatives faced in business decision making to select the most effective and efficient solution.
- Analyze the economics of the business environment.
- Recognize ethical, legal, and global dimensions in business practice and how business integrates social responsibility into operations/decision making.
- Develop abilities to work in and lead work-teams.
- Use team collaboration to solve business problems.
- Develop skills, knowledge, and habits of mind necessary to transfer to and succeed at a university or college with junior status in business.
This degree requires courses from Areas I, III and IV students must select one course from the remaining areas to complete General Education requirements

Mission Statement of the Program
In support of the University mission, the Agriculture Department is comprised of creative, highly qualified professionals dedicated to preparing our students for entry-level opportunities and long-term career success, providing a fulfilling experience for members of our faculty, and making meaningful contributions to the professional and academic communities we serve.
The Agriculture Program offers a B.S. and an A.S. in Agribusiness. The program is committed to providing a wide range of tools necessary for successful admission to graduate school. The program seeks to develop professional and practical scholarship through exploration of fundamental and contemporary concerns, including those dealing with ethical issues. Such an education provides the graduate with a background suited to meeting the needs of a challenging job market.
The Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness will put you on a career path to work for local, national, or international accounting and consulting firms. Opportunities are also available in Agribusiness, higher education, government agencies, and not-for-profit organizations. Students may also choose to earn an Associate of Science degree for quick entry into the workforce and a foundation for further education, or to minor in Agribusiness as a supplement to another ACIU major.
Program Outcome Objectives
Upon completion of this program, it is expected that students will:
- Demonstrate knowledge of current accounting principles, tax law, current auditing standards, and the use of accounting information by management.
- Develop critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills.
- Apply accounting theory in a practical manner.
- Demonstrate technology skills necessary to solve accounting problems.
- Meet the requirements for entry-level careers in accounting such as auditing, corporate accounting, governmental, not-for-profit organizations, and taxation.
- Demonstrate the capability to critically and reflectively engage ethical issues in accounting, particularly questions pertaining to social responsibility and professional practice.
